i can suggest one for you....
"The first casualty" by ben elton. Its not something that i would have picked out for myself, being a war story... BUT it isnt just a war story, i cant tell you too much as it would give the story away, but it is brilliant, amazing, funny, gruesome, realistic, horrific and truly beautifully written!
please dont be put off about the war part.. it is amazing!

No Kathy, it's where we have a book of the month and we all read it and then we each make comments about it, sort of write a write up about it and discuss it. Thought it might be fun for all the book worms out there. I belong to a lunch book club, we all read the same book that month then we get together at one our houses for lunch and discuss the book we've been reading that month then the person whose house lunch is at next month chooses the next book and so on. We do of course chat about lots of other things too, it's not as boring as it sounds lol.

May I recommend Whatever Love Means by David Baddiel. I have read it quite a few times now and never cease to be moved. It is the story of an affair between to people started in the days after Diana's death. It sound like an awful idea for a book and possibly in very poor taste indeed but it is genius. Very warm, funny, poignant and moving. The twists and turns are amazing, very skillfully written and well dealt with. I am left emotionally exhausted after reading it, but deeply, deeply moved.

Count me in! Have jsut read Not without my daughter, cant remember author, its was really good and so moving. It was about a woman who goes on holiday to Iran, with her iranian husband and her daughter, they are american, and then the husband decides not to return and holds her and the child prisioner, the story is about her escape not only from her husband and hisfamily but from Iran itself. Was so good i couldnt put it down.

Ok lets start it on June 10th which gives us 5 days to find the book to read. i'll do a poll thingy on the books that have been suggested to see which one we are all going to read first if that's ok then as soon as we have all read it we can all give our opinions of it itms.
